Wavering Vine

For this installation, Wavering Vine, visual artist Allyce Wood utilizes simple tabby weaving structures, painted warp, and complex color matrices to create a textile that bends the rigid grid of the cloth’s pattern into something more organic, fluid, and changing. A violet line submerges itself amongst the wool fibers, spilling outwards as the yarns take on the color as it loops and buds, only to solidify in certain sections, giving the effect that it is floating on the work’s surface with a determined clarity.

This piece is exhibited in the window of 12315 Lake City Way NE, Seattle from October 2025 - February 2026 with support from Seattle Restored.
