That which hovers, that which is ice
Pyrite Book, folded digital prints. 5.5" x 4". 2015
Folded Arms, etchings on paper. 11" x 9". 2015
Salient, digital video. Dimensions variable. 2015
That which hovers, that which is ice combines text, prints, and objects to interpret durational phase changes: cool water freezes the river dry, stone wears, bones knit together. State changes bring visible alterations. Perception casts personal shadows.
In each work, I explore the idea of 'state change' as applied to the physical (landscape, minerals, diatoms) as well as persona (theorizing, reflections). Considering how time effects each subject, I've used video to mark transitions, text for associative reactions, digital images to examine raw components, and diptych etchings to describe variants. The collected pieces inform each other, allowing the reader to flow through the installation.
