Artifacts of Connection
Artifacts of Connection, an exhibition of woven artworks by Allyce Wood and quilted artworks bu Johanna Porter at Magnuson Park Gallery
From curator Maddy Berkman: In Artifacts of Connection, artists Allyce Wood and Johanna Porter both explore cycles of creation, destruction, and renewal, reflecting the profound imprints left by nature, technology, and human touch.
Porter channels spiritual experiences from the wilderness through salvaged materials and layered assemblages, while Wood merges digital and traditional weaving to connect past and present.
Together, their works reclaim and transform materials and processes, blurring the boundaries between the natural and human-made. They invite others to reconsider their connection to the physical and digital worlds.
